Members also get:

  • No club fees or cancellation rates.
  • Flat rate shipping determined by the number of bottles in the shipment.

Why it Works & What Could be Better

Why it Works
  • The Choices – While slightly daunting, members have a tremendous amount of control over their club with choices in level, number of bottles, frequency, and makeup of shipments.
  • No Membership Fees – Vinesse Wine Club has no membership fees.
  • One High End Option – There is one premium club level for those who want wines that are higher end.
  • Flat Rate Shipping Scale – Members can easily calculate shipping costs using the chart on the website.
  • Informative Website – Vinesse Wine Club has a clear website that is easy to navigate and order from.

What Could be Better
  • Range Prices – While the prices are fair, it is frustrating to receive prices in a range.  It is recommended that members plan on paying the higher end of the rate monthly in order to properly budget.
  • Sort of Hidden Fees – Residential shipping is $2.50 more per shipment than delivering to a business and there are charges for shipping to Alaska and Hawaii.  These can be found on the shipping page.

FAQ

When Does My Subscription End?

Vinesse subscriptions are for one year or until cancelled by the member.

How Can I Know Exactly How Much I Will Be Charged?

You can’t – but you can check the range and assume the higher one.  We have added shipping, except where indicated, on our chart.  You will also need to add your state’s applicable sales tax.

Can I order this as a gift?

Absolutely!  Just make sure to sign up as a gift and alert the person receiving the wine so that they may arrange to have someone 21 or older at home to sign for their wine.

All In All

Other than the little fees that are peppered on the shipping page and the price ranges instead of a set amount per month, Vinesse Wine Club is a reasonably priced wine club with great variety in clubs, fair prices, and easy to calculate shipping thanks to flat rate shipping based on the number of bottles.  Whether you want to explore a variety of wines or stick to Malbecs or another varietal there is a club here for everyone.

For several years now I have subscribed to the Grab Bag twice or 3x per year. Whereas I used to get a nice collection of reds including varieties from different countries and types of wine such as zin, malbec, cabs, spanish reds and some pinots from here and there, lately my 36 ordered bottles have been more and more dominated by marginal merlots mixed with a few decent and interesting reds. My most recent shipment of 36 bottles included no less that 15 bottles of merlot from California. I used to enjoy the surprise and variety of what I would receive from Vinesse, but that is no longer true and I may be looking elsewhere in the future. Whoever packs up the cases ordered should make some effort to see that the customer receives a varied selection when more than one case is ordered.

    + PROS: Reasonably priced.
    - CONS: Not enough variety in the wines sent in the "grab bag" event.

Vinesse wine club is a total ripoff. Overpriced wine sucks. Three buck Chuck’s from Trader Joes is better than theirs. You cannot cancel an order even if it hasn’t shipped yet. Even if you cancel and they haven’t shipped their last set of crappy wines, you have to receive the wine, send it back, pay for shipping, pay for restocking and then they will let you out of your membership. It is easy to sign up and become a member but hell to terminate membership. Customer service might as well be a robot because they repeat the same stupid answers over and over. Nobody there can think, make decisions or escalate an issue. They thrive on suckers joining the membership and not paying attention to the cost or quality of wine. If companies were smart, they would make it as easy to terminate a membership as it is to join. Why? Because it reduces the risk in joining back up if the member starts to miss the product later on. But, if they are hell to cancel then you can guarantee that people won’t come back. Not only that, if you make it hell to cancel then you leave a bad taste in customer’s mouths and they will talk badly about your product until they feel vindicated.

+ PROS: Easy to sign up
    - CONS: Difficult and expensive to cancel. Overpriced wine. Bad wine. Bad customer service. Bad office hours.
